Cafe Milano in Kloof Street is one my favourite of spots at the moment. It’s unpretentious, simple and consistently good. I got these take-away pastries the other weekend and  they were ridiculously tasty.

If you go for breakfast, I would go for the eggs Benedict. So often I feel a bit ill after eggs Benedict, but this version is so light and fresh, that it’s the perfect meal. Also, get there early to avoid missing out on the custard croissants which will haunt you with their deliciousness.

The aim of this site is to create a diary of things that I like and things that I think that others would like to see.
To put it simply, I love food. I love the way how food can make things better and often how food can make your day. Best of all, food is always evolving. I find myself thinking about food often (maybe a little too often), always planning what I’m going to make for dinner or where next I’m going to eat out. There are always new and exciting things to try in the food department and living in Cape Town, I feel we are pretty spoiled for choice when it comes to awesome restaurants.

On the other hand, I always love fashion. I still hope to one day work in the fashion industry, as I am fascinated by the everyday interpretation and evolution of fashion. Most of all, I love the more classic, simpler and timeless sort of fashion.

I decided to start this blog to feature the best of both my favourite things. In both food and fashion, I really love the pure, simple and beautiful things, and that’s basically how the name ‘Bread & Cotton” came about.

I hope that you like what you find here.
